Another photo from Dana Point. The hotel has amazing landscaping and flowers that we never would see in Michigan in plantings!

Thanks, Marilyn - I don't recall a scent, but the ocean may have overwhelmed it. I was standing on a walkway and the flowers were growing out of the hillside below me - that one happened to be tall enough that I could shoot it as if I was right by it, but I was not. It's similar to the photos I found of tuberoses, but the centers of tuberoses are different. I also couldn't find anything that says how big the flowers are. Good suggestion - possibly something in the family, given it was Southern California!

Hi Conni, You got me wondering too - I think this might be Tuberose - that's my best guess. Did it have a beautiful scent? It is used in perfumes. Agave amica, formerly Polianthes tuberosa, the tuberose, is a perennial plant in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Agavoideae, extracts of which are used as a note in perfumery. Now widely grown as an ornamental plant, the species was originally native to Mexico.

Creative composition, Conni! Very nice. l/f

Thank you, Joe! If you have any idea what the flower is, could you tell me? They were gorgeous and quite large - the blooms probably 3 - 4" across on a tall stalk.
