Description
Watercolor painting of morning light on a small lake, trees reflected in the water, by Conni Schaftenaar.
A friend has a cottage on Bitely Lake, a couple of hours north of where I live. She took some photos across the lake, standing at her cottage, one morning as the sun was up, but only just. She emailed them to me, saying, "you should paint these!"
This view looks west across the lake, so the sun was behind her, highlighting the newly emerging leaf buds on the trees across the lake, turning them fiery orange, looking somewhat fall-like. I found the nearly perfect reflection appealing and decided to paint it.
