A Girl's Best Friend 2, watercolor painting by Conni Schaftenaar

Several years ago I painted a watercolor of this little girl's older sister with this dog. Her mom requested a painting of her with Max - he's getting pretty old now - mom has had him since before she had kids!

I wonder every time I look at this image what she's saying to the dog, she looks a little bossy, doesn't she? She's a proper sassy little miss, with her cute Minnie Mouse dress, pink shoes and her blonde curls falling over her face!

I used Micron pen black ink to draw the Minnie Mouse faces and bows on the dress before adding watercolor to the bows.

1st place tie in the Cute Summer contest, July 2023
