Description
Spring Blossoming Apple Tree in Alcohol Ink on Yupo, by Conni Schaftenaar.
This is one of several studies I've done recently from one of my photos (on my gallery) of a beautiful old apple tree on our farm that stood on its own and bloomed bright against the backdrop of other spring trees and scrub. It also had the most delicious apples that made fabulous applesauce every year. Sadly, the tree has begun to break down, so I no longer have this lovely view looking down the pasture from my deck in the spring, so that's probably why I've been doing studies of it!

Thanks, Laurel! The different effects are because this is not watercolor, but alcohol ink on Yupo. AI runs and plays on Yupo similarly to watercolor, BUT the inks interact each color with any that they touch, also. AI is its own thing, with its own intentions!

WOW!...love the watercolour and backstory, Conni. This version appears to have more yupo scrapings and detail play! Love the textures and light! Love the memorializing of a beloved tree!...there is something magical about trees. Best to you in the IN APPLE BLOSSOM TIME CONTEST! LF
