Thanks, Marsha - yes, the lights in the trees were on at night, but I doubt those little bulbs helped! I just never could figure out how that flight of robins ended up in cold, wintery West Michigan in January! poor babies!

Cold little robins! This captures the feel of winter perfectly. Did the lights go on at night? maybe they were getting a little warmth from them. l/f

Artist's Description

Several years ago on a cold January afternoon, big, fat flakes of snow were drifting down. I looked out of my office window in Coopersville, MI, and saw birds in an ornamental pear tree outside. All the trees on the street still had Christmas lights on them. I grabbed my camera and took a bunch of photos of what was a flock of about a dozen robins sitting in this pear tree. No idea why they were there - they either forgot to migrate in the fall or came back way too early!

Featured in these FAA groups:
A Birding Group - Wings, June 2014
Winter Wonderland, February, 2015
Bird Watchers, July 2015

About Conni Schaftenaar

Conni Schaftenaar

Thank you for visiting my FAA/Pixels gallery! Please note that the FAA watermark you'll see on images does NOT print on anything. My name is Conni Schaftenaar. I have had a life-long love of colorful art but always imagined that I wasn't talented enough to be someone who actually produced art that others liked. I began to learn some techniques from a watercolor instructor back in 2013, and I've been continuing the learning process ever since. I have had much joy in the comments and communications on FAA with other artists about my art, finding out that OTHER PEOPLE actually like my art! It's been a huge confidence booster to me to get that positive feedback, and I really appreciate it. I primarily paint in watercolor on various...
