Red Spotted Purple Butterfly batik on ginwashi rice paper, by Conni Schaftenaar
This is one of a new series of batiks I did this summer, planning to do a calendar for friends and to sell in my Etsy shop for 2018. This photo was taken by a friend, Elaine, at a butterfly garden in Michigan, who kindly gave me permission to use it as a reference photo. It's a Red Spotted Purple butterfly (?! weird name for a beautiful blue butterfly!) on a Lantana blossom.
