Description
Country church on a snow-covered moonlit night, surrounded by tall lodgepole pines, watercolor on paper by Conni Schaftenaar.
This is a re-visiting of a painting I did a little over 2 years ago. The original image literally came to me vividly in a dream. I woke up, wondering why I would dream of such an image, went back to sleep and dreamed of it again. So, the next day, I did a rough sketch of what I had seen in my dream.
Our watercolor class was working on snow scenes in moonlight, so I decided to revisit my little white country church as a subject. I think it is a major improvement over the previous effort of two years ago! This time I used a reference photo from a local church I had taken a few years ago - beautiful little New England-style church with a tall white spire!

I really like that you have placed the church and moon right in the center of the composition. It works very well, and the surrounding nighttime with its silhouetted trees are the perfect backdrop.
